Education is great.
Whether teaching or learning, it's a great experience to share something new with another person, or to nurture something that they weren't entirely sure they possessed.
I've been doing a lot more photography tutorials of late, and not only street photography. Most recently I've been working with Alicia from Leighton Buzzard, who contacted me through my Instagram page, telling me that she had invested in a new camera but wanted to take control of its functions and to develop her creative confidence.
Perhaps more importantly, Alicia knew that she was drawn to artistic, minimalist images and wanted to develop aspects of minimalism in her own photography.
Whilst also looking at the fundamentals of photography and developing her understanding of the basic functions on her camera, the tutorial covered the use of colour, texture, composition, shape and detail - essentials of minimalist photography.
The session covered both theory and practical elements, and here's what Alicia had to say about the tutorial...
"So glad I contacted Sonny to arrange a tutorial. His communication was quick and friendly so I felt comfortable from the off. The session was informative with a great balance of theory and practical, and it was fun! I found it really inspiring and Iām looking forward to the next session!" ALICIA HIGHAM, 2017
Here are a few of Alicia's minimalist pictures from the tutorial:
Alicia booked a block of sessions following her initial tutorial and since then we've been on photowalks and covered editing with computer software.
